Listed Building Repairs
We repair listed buildings using traditional materials and building methods that replace the original work required exactly by building regulations. We understand even minor operations can alter the character of a listed building and offer our support and expertise to help you through this process.
Listed buildings are protected under the Planning Act 1990 and cover both the interior and exterior of the building. If you plan alterations to a listed building consent will be required for any work that will change the character ranging from removing an internal feature to building an extension. Here is some work that requires building consent on a listed building:
- Replacement windows
- Internal plaster work
- Repairs not carried out in matching materials
- Exposing timbers and brickwork previously hidden
- Removal or alteration to internal features
- New plumbing
- Extensions and any demolition
The repairs that are required depend on the level of the damage suffered so far, clients can only be advised after a thorough appraisal. Once complete, a strategy of the repairs will be supplied to you outlining exactly what action needs to be taken and in what time scale they should be completed.
If you have any concrete enquiry at all, please contact us with your requirements and we'll be happy to help.
